Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid

Hello Moviemainers,

Wow another year is almost over.  Now I did not pick a  Christmas movie to share with you this month ( sorry for everyone who was counting on that )   I have been thinking about the email I got from Ted Carter about the film Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.  I forgot how popular the film was and how the film stands up today. So my film for the month is Ted Carter's pick.

Now what I would like you to do is after you see the film please watch the 45 minute film on how George Roy Hill shot the film.  Very entertaining, and it gives you a real sense of how things have changed in the way they make films today. You can find it in YouTube.

Feel free to leave a comment on the blog site or send an email to me. I really enjoy your feedback.

The Conjuring

Dear Moviemainers,

Well it is the month of October and I always try to find something haunting or ghostly for the month. This month it is the The Conjuring 2013.  This is based on the true story of Lorraine and Ed Warren two paranormal investigators from Milford Connecticut.   This particular story deals with a family in Rhode Island that had evil living in their house.  In 1995 I met Ed and Lorraine Warren and they made a trip up to Maine that summer.   I also met their daughter Judy all grown up (I will save that story for another day).  Ed and Lorraine Warren are the two people who investigated the Amityville horror.   Whether you believe in the spirit world or not there are things that cannot be explained.   I hope you enjoy.

Please Don't Eat The Daisies

Dear Moviemainers,

It is spring and I am thinking about flowers and one of my favorite Doris Day films,  PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES.  Starring Doris Day and David Niven,   1960.  This is the story of a college professor who becomes a theater critic.   His wife and four children are living in a crowded New York City apartment and lose the lease and end up moving to the country.   Of course there is a least one good song in it.

Happy Easter To Everyone!

The Card

Dear Moviemainers,

Well It is hard to believe that this month of March is our 6th anniversary of Moviemainers. I hope you have enjoyed the films and have some great memories of the get togethers we have had.

The film for the month of March is 1952 The Card starring Alec Guinness ( a favorite actor of mine), also starring is Glynis Johns and a very young Petula Clark ( hard to believe she could be 85 years old now, I still remember her on the Ed Sullivan show singing Downtown.   This is a story of a young man from the poor side of a village in England.   He works his way up from being very poor to the major of the village.

I was speaking to Larry the Film guy via email as Larry is living in Minnesota now, he said this film is very hard to find and he thought netflix would not have it, ( he had it on VHS, I miss him! )   I was able to watch it for free on Utube , check it out.   If anyone is interested in hosting the club let me know.   I hope you enjoy .

Your Movie Diva,
Movielynne

PS from Carl... per IMDB.com, this movie also goes by the name "The Promoter".
