The movie for the month of April is the 2023 film, Jules.  Starring Ben Kingsley and Jane Curtin, it takes place in Pennsylvania where an elderly widower is living a somewhat lonely life.  He is shocked when a spaceship lands in his backyard and things unfold from there.  

I know we are all busy people, but this film is touching and I really want to hear from you if you like it.  It is free on YouTube.

Circle Of Friends

Hi Moviemainers, 

This month is a short one for me as I was away and I am behind for the month of March, so here goes.  The film for the month of March is the 1995 film called Circle Of Friends, starring Minnie Driver, Colin Firth and Chris O'Donnel.  It takes place in Ireland in the 1950s and it is the story of three friends and what happens to them as they get ready to go to college and grow up.  

I hope that winter is over soon, I have had enough, I think you all will agree.  Ya! for spring.  I hope you enjoy the film.

Undertaking Betty

Hello Moviemainers:    The film for the month of February is Undertaking Betty, 2005 starring Brenda Blethyn, Al Molina, Christopher Walken and Naomi Watts.

I found this film on youtube, I had never heard of this film, so glad I checked it out.  The film tells the story of a woman whose husband cheats on her and does not treat her very nice, and she also has to care for her mother-in-law who is unkind.   The local mortician has been in love with her since they were in school.  Now this is a touching film with a nice amount of comedy, I hope you enjoy the film.   Christopher Walken steals the film , so funny.

Sun Valley Serenade

Hello Moviemainers, 

The film for the month of January is Sun Valley Serenade, 1941.  It stars Milton Berle, Sonja Henie and John Payne.  The film tells the story of a man who adopts a refugee (thinking it is a young child and ends up with an adult woman).  It also stars Glenn Miller and his orchestra.  The song Chattanooga Choo Choo became a number one hit after the film came out.  One more bit of trivia (I love trivia)... black ink was added to the water before freezing to create a mirror effect on the ice.

Everyone Says I Love You

Hello Moviemainers, 

The film for the month of December is Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You, 1996, starring Alan Alda, Goldie Hawn and Julia Roberts.  It was not considered to be one of his best but I just loved it.  It tells the story of an extended family and all the personalities and crazy situations they get into.  Now, you are probably thinking, Lynne, where is the Christmas film... well, the film ends with a Christmas party.  It is funny because all of the actors knew before signing on that they had to sing a song by themselves.  Let us just say not everyone can sing a song in turn!

Broadway Danny Rose

Hello Moviemainers, 

The film for the month of November is Broadway Danny Rose, 1984, starring Woody Allen and Mia Farrow.  It tells the story of a talent agent who handles acts that, how would I say, you probably would never have seen on The Ed Sullivan Show.  He gets involved with a girl and the mob.  It ends with him hosting Thanksgiving dinner for his friends.

Madame

Hello Movie Mainers, 

I think you know I have a sleep issue so some nights I will watch more than one film before finally falling asleep.  The film for the month of October is a little film called Madame, made in 2017 starring Toni Collette, Harvey Keitel and Rossy DePalma.  You can watch it for free on YouTube.  

It is a story of a wealthy couple living in Paris and the maid that does everything for them.  Their world gets turned upside down when she cannot have an odd number of people at dinner and insists that the maid pretend to be a guest and have dinner with them and their friends.  I found the film touching and not the ending you would think.  How the rich like to pretend their lives are so much better.
