Moonrise Kingdom

The film for the month of August is Moonrise Kingdom, 2012.  This is the cutest film, about a scout who runs away from the troop as he feels he does not fit in.  He falls for a girl who is very much like him.  She also runs away from home (they are on an island).  Everyone on the island is looking for them.  This is a Wes Anderson film, quirky and delightful.  

I hope you enjoy it, send a message and let me know what you think.  It is true that a few years ago, I did post this film.  I felt that it was the right film for this time of summer.

The Big Chill

Hello Moviemainers, the film for the month of June is the 1983 film The Big Chill,   What got me thinking of this film was I happened to come across on youtube a interview with some of the actors in the film, and I remembered how popular the film was when it was released. 

The film tells the story of a group of friends that  reunite after one of them  commiits suicide , They reunite and end up staying in a home owned by one of the group of friends.   All the actors in the film became famous after this film, Th music is great, although the group reunites for the funeral it brings back some happy times.  The film stars Willism Hurt, Jobeth Williams, Tom Berenger, Kevin Kline, Glen Close.

Remarkably Bright Creatures

Hello Moviemainers, 

The film for the month of June is Remarkably Bright Creatures, starring Sally Field, 2026 on Netflix.  It tells the story of a widow who works nights cleaning at an aquarium; she forms a friendship with an octopus.  I found this film very touching and I hope you see it.  There are a lot of films out there, but not so many that I feel are really worth watching.

Hello Moviemainers, 

Here is the film for the month of May:  To Die For, 1995, starring Nicole Kidman and Matt Dillon.  It is based on a true story that happened in New Hampshire, telling the story of a narcissist who will do anything to get on TV as a news anchor.  She will even kill to stop anyone from getting in her way.

Hi Moviemainers, 

The movie for the month of April is the 2023 film, Jules.  Starring Ben Kingsley and Jane Curtin, it takes place in Pennsylvania where an elderly widower is living a somewhat lonely life.  He is shocked when a spaceship lands in his backyard and things unfold from there.  

I know we are all busy people, but this film is touching and I really want to hear from you if you like it.  It is free on YouTube.

Circle Of Friends

Hi Moviemainers, 

This month is a short one for me as I was away and I am behind for the month of March, so here goes.  The film for the month of March is the 1995 film called Circle Of Friends, starring Minnie Driver, Colin Firth and Chris O'Donnel.  It takes place in Ireland in the 1950s and it is the story of three friends and what happens to them as they get ready to go to college and grow up.  

I hope that winter is over soon, I have had enough, I think you all will agree.  Ya! for spring.  I hope you enjoy the film.

Undertaking Betty

Hello Moviemainers:    The film for the month of February is Undertaking Betty, 2005 starring Brenda Blethyn, Al Molina, Christopher Walken and Naomi Watts.

I found this film on youtube, I had never heard of this film, so glad I checked it out.  The film tells the story of a woman whose husband cheats on her and does not treat her very nice, and she also has to care for her mother-in-law who is unkind.   The local mortician has been in love with her since they were in school.  Now this is a touching film with a nice amount of comedy, I hope you enjoy the film.   Christopher Walken steals the film , so funny.
