An American In Paris | The World Of Henry Orient

Hey Moviemainers.  April movies are... being the month of April I always like to have at least one movie with the word Paris in it.  This month it is An American In Paris. It is a musical from 1951 starring Gene  Kelly and Leslie Caron and directed by Vincente Minneli.   A World War II war vet tries to become a painter in Paris.  He meets and falls in love with none other then Leslie Caron.  You have got Gershwin music and it doesn't get better then this.   Next on the list is The World Of Henry Orient from 1964.   A comedy starring  Peter Sellers, Paula Prentiss and Angela Lansbury.  It is the story of a concert pianist who falls for a married women (loosely based on the life of Oscar Levant) he believes two teenage girls are following him and spying on him so he becomes paranoid.  It was voted  one of the ten best films of that year.   Larry, our newest member, will be showing this movie at his house with a lasagna dinner on Saturday 4/26 at 5:00.  Please RSVP to Larry at LEKalp@aol.com. His home theatre has 12 seats, so the first 12 to RSVP are in!

PS from Carl...Tom and I watched World of Henry Orient last night.  What a delightful movie!  Don't miss it.  The story of the friendship between the two girls is beautiful, and Tom Bosley's character comes from out of nowhere to steal the show!

PSS from Tom...loved the movie a real surprise acting was fun the development of the characters was perfect.

Dear moviemainers, It has been some time since I have seen this film, I chose it because I started digging I need some films that maybe members have not heard of and maybe wouldn't ever see if it wasn't one of my picks I just love being apart of this group, and my new friend Larry ! Remember RSVP only 12 seats.

It's probably true that most members only read the monthly posting from you, and ignore the comments page. I'm trying to increase awareness of the comments page by including a link to it in the monthly email. A blog shouldn't just be one-way conversation (in our case, you announcing the movie choices). It should be a two-way conversation, with members using the comments page to share their thoughts and opinions. Other than a handful of brave members who we’d like to thank (Leslie, Ginny, Pearl, Joan, Jim and Tom) nobody else is using the comments page to its' potential. If I've inspired anyone to give it a try, here are the instructions for adding a comment (trust me, it’s far easier than most of what’s thrown at us in our daily routines!):

1 - Enter the blog by going to - http://moviemainers.blogspot.com
2 - Click on "comments" link at the bottom of the posting you want to add a comment to (it'll either say "No Comments", or "1 Comment", or "2 Comments", etc, depending on the number of comments that have been posted thus far).
3 - Enter your comment in the box.
4 - For identity, select "Name/URL".
5 - Enter your name in the "Name" field and leave "URL" blank.
6 - Click on "Publish Your Comment".
