It Happened On Fifth Avenue

Hello Moviemainers,

Here is the film for the month of December:  It Happened On Fifth Avenue.  It is adorable and a different film than most.  It is the story of a hobo with a dog who spends his holidays on Fifth Avenue in a luxury townhouse while the owner heads south for the winter months.  Before the owner returns he leaves the townhouse just as he found it.  A very touching film.

If I do not see you all before the holidays have a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.

The Age Of Adaline

Hello Moviemainers,

What can I say, where did the summer go?   Way too short and way too much rain for me.

The film for the month is The Age Of Adaline,  2015 starring Blake Lively and Harrison Ford.  The film deals with a woman who has an accident and then does not age at all.   I hope you enjoy the film and if anyone would like to host a film next month please let me know.   It would be great to get back together with the way things were before covid.

I hope you enjoy the film,

It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World

Hello Moviemainers,

I have been running amuck, this is my busiest time of year.  I thought some people might miss the film for the month of August so here goes.

The film for the month of August is It's A Mad, Mad, Mad World 1963 starring an all-star cast, I mean an all-star cast.  It tells the story of a suitcase that was filled with stolen money.  It was produced and directed by Stanley Kramer.  It was nominated for several Academy Awards but only won for Sound Effects.  It is a crazy fast paced film.

I look forward to hearing from you about this film.  Take care and I hope to see you soon.

A Kind Of Murder

Happy July 4th.  I hope you are having some fun with family and friends.  Well, since the month of June was a total wash-out and if it happens again on July 4, here is a film you might enjoy.  A Kind Of Murder, 2016.  You can see it for free on YouTube.  The film is based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith (she wrote The Talented Mr. Ripley, I really enjoyed that film).  It is a murder case with lots of twists and turns.  It has a Hitchcock feel to it.

Send me an email and let me know how you liked the film.

PS from George & Carl… unless someone else would like to host a gathering this month, we’d be happy to do so.  Like last time, it’d be cocktails, heavy hors d’ouevres, and popcorn.  If you’re interested let us know and we’ll schedule a date.

No Way To Treat A Lady

Hello Moviemainers,

Sorry I am late this month but with the fractured wrist I could only type with my left hand and everything I did took forever! The film for the month of January is 1968 NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY starring George Segal , Lee Remick and Rod Steiger. The film is about a man murdering women in New York City and dressing in disguises. This film is a thriller but has several black comedy moments in it. Rod Steiger was nominated for his part in the film, and you will see Doris Roberts (from the Everyone Loves Raymond TV show) with a small part.

Because I am late and with the holidays just over I'm not planning a dinner this month, but please send me your comments if you enjoyed the film or not. Stay warm and look forward to seeing you next month.

Your movie diva,
Movielynne
