Finding Your Feet

Hello Moviemakers,

The film for November is Finding Your Feet, 2017.  It's a British comedy drama and you can find it on YouTube.  It tells the story of two sisters who live very different lives, and what happens to them after 10 years apart.  I found it on YouTube and I must say it is very well acted with Imelda Staunton; you will recognize her from many British films, and she played Queen Elizabeth in the final series of The Crown.

I hope you enjoy the film and please feel free to add a comment.

I Care A Lot

Hello Moviemakers,

The film for the month of October is a Netflix film, I Care A Lot.  It's a 2021 film, very well done.  It tells the story of a lawyer who scams elderly people out of their money and homes and becomes very rich in the process.   I chose this film as I have a personal friend that went through something very similar and it frightens me to see how easy it is for the court to do.

I hope you are all doing well and I hope you comment on the film.

Chinatown

Hi Moviemainers,

The film for the month of September is Chinatown, 1974.  The reason I chose this film is because I read a book this summer called The Big Goodbye, about the last decade of great film making.  What it took to make this film happen is a very interesting story, for those of you out there who enjoy reading what it takes to make a film you might enjoy this book.  The film is considered a film noir, with classic lines and a great mystery.

I have not heard from anyone (are you out there?).  I hope you enjoy this film.

Cool Runnings

 Hello Moviemainers,

The Olympics are on TV right now and that got me thinking about the 1993 Walt Disney film Cool Runnings.  The film was originally going to be a drama with a different cast.  It is based on the true story of the 1988 Olympics, when the first Jamaican bobsled team entered the Olympics.  I hope you enjoy this film; it made a great deal of money and the critics really liked it!  I am not sure if that is a good thing or not, as I do not always agree with the critics.

Please let me know if you enjoyed the film.

All Is Lost

Hi Moviemakers,

The film for the month of July is All Is Lost, 2013, starring Robert Redford.  A man is sailing by himself and of course he gets into trouble.  It is one bad thing after another for him to deal with.

Let me know if you enjoyed the film, and also if you have a film you would like the group to watch.

The Jerk

Hi Moviemainers,

The film for the month of June is The Jerk with Steve Martin, 1979.  This is Steve Martin's first film, directed by Carl Reiner and written by Steve Martin.  Now I know some people found Jerry Lewis very funny (Jerry Lewis, I found really annoying).  I know some of you will just shudder about me telling you my feelings on him, but that is me.  This film, The Jerk, has some really funny moments for me.  My favorite is when Steve and Bernadette are walking on the beach and are singing, and she picks up a trumpet on the beach; now that is funny.

Let me know if you if you would like to host a film night, and please let me know if you liked the film.

Your Movie diva,

Sitting Pretty

Moviemainers,

The film for the month of May is a film I so enjoy called Sitting Pretty, 1948.  It stars Maureen O'Hara, Clifton Webb and Robert Young.  It is the story of a woman who needs to hire a nanny for her children and a person by the name of Lynn Belvedere answers the ad (Lynn is also a man's name).  To her shock when she opens the door, a man is standing there.  This did very well at the box office as they made two more films about Mr. Belvedere.

I hope you enjoy the film and if you're interested in hosting, please let me know.
