Sitting Pretty

The film for the month of May is a film I so enjoy called Sitting Pretty, 1948.  It stars Maureen O'Hara, Clifton Webb and Robert Young.  It is the story of a woman who needs to hire a nanny for her children and a person by the name of Lynn Belvedere answers the ad (Lynn is also a man's name).  To her shock when she opens the door, a man is standing there.  This did very well at the box office as they made two more films about Mr. Belvedere.

The film for the month of April is New York, I Love You.  Filmed in 2008, it is a series of small films, 11 in total, directed by different people.  It is an ensemble cast and has comedy, romance, a little bit of everything.

Bright Lights, Big City

Hi Moviemakers, 

It is March (February did fly by).  The film for the month of March is Bright Lights, Big City starring Michael J. Fox.  This is a story of a young man who wants to work for a magazine and write, and gets involved in the night life of 1980s New York City.  It also stars Phoebe Cates.

Fresh

Hello Moviemakers, 

The film for the month of February is called Fresh, 2022.  This film is unique as it is about dating but it is not exactly what you think it is.  Starring Daisy Edgar Jones and Sebastian Stan.  Rotten Tomatoes has given the film an 82% positive rating.  I am up for something different, how about you?  Please feel free to email me and let me know what you think of the film.

Innocent

The film for the month of January is Innocent, 2011.  This is a made for TV film starring Bill Pullman, Alfred Molina and Marcia Gay Harden.  This story is based on a Scott Turow novel.  The plot is a judge who gets involved with a co-worker and ends up getting accused of killing his wife.  It can be seen on YouTube.

It Happened On Fifth Avenue

Hello Moviemainers, 

Here is the film for the month of December:  It Happened On Fifth Avenue.  It is adorable and a different film than most.  It is the story of a hobo with a dog who spends his holidays on Fifth Avenue in a luxury townhouse while the owner heads south for the winter months.  Before the owner returns he leaves the townhouse just as he found it.  A very touching film.  

If I do not see you all before the holidays have a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Horatio's Drive

Hello Moviemainers, 

Well here we are in the month of October.  The film this month is Horatio's Drive, a 2003 documentary directed by Ken Burns.  This is the story of the first cross-country automobile journey in the United States, which took place in 1903.  The narration by Tom Hanks is excellent.  George and Carl have offered to host a gathering at their home later in the month.  Please RSVP to them with what date works best for you.
